Trail Sponsors & funding

The significance of this 18km development has been recognised by the level of financial and professional support received from public bodies.

The Forestry Commission, supplemented by European funds via the Forestry & Rural Development Project, has been the main funder with others including Caithness & Sutherland Enterprise, Highland 2007, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Highland Council.

In total, the capital funding package for phase 1 exceeds £500,000 although fund raising continues to extend the project and improve the visitor experience.

In association with Highland Council, Highland Wildcat has held events to inform local businesses about the sport of mountain biking and the customer expectations. On the basis of visitor numbers at similar facilities there could be in the region of 25,000 to 50,000 additional visitors to the area.
