Phase 1 of the Highland Wildcat mountain bike trails was officially opened in November '06. The community company has developed this facility with the agreement and support of Sutherland Estate under a longterm lease, encouraging public access over Ben Bhraggie and past the infamous monument to the 1st Duke of Sutherland.

The trails have been built to the highest quality to provide a serious attraction and justifying visitors travelling the 50 miles north of Inverness. In creating a Highland mountain bike destination, Highland Wildcat is supported by Forest Enterprise trail developments within easy travelling distance which have created a "cluster” of cycling opportunity in the North.

The regular visits throughout the year will be supplemented when periodic events are held to give tourist businesses an out of season boost in trade; the first of these is being organised to celebrate the Highland Year of Culture in 2007. The community company will monitor visitor numbers as a measure of success and continue to work closely with local business interests for economic benefit.
